Star-Studded Surprises: Hopes for Cate Blanchett and Ryan Reynolds in "Only Murders in the Building" Season Four

The excitement surrounding "Only Murders in the Building" continues to grow as Steve Martin expresses his desire for Ryan Reynolds and Cate Blanchett to make guest appearances in the series. Known for its star-studded cast, the show has successfully drawn in notable guest stars throughout its run, including Tina Fey and Paul Rudd, and it appears that the upcoming fourth season aims to keep that momentum.

In this new season, fans can look forward to appearances from Eva Longoria, Eugene Levy, and Zach Galifianakis, all portraying themselves in a plot that sees the familiar podcasting trio heading to Hollywood. This is just a hint of the star-studded cameos that await viewers this season. When asked which celebrities they would like to see join the cast, Martin, Selena Gomez, and Martin Short revealed their hopes. While Short showed some initial reluctance, he acknowledged the multitude of talented actors he would love to see featured.

Martin immediately mentioned his admiration for Cate Blanchett, prompting enthusiastic agreement from Gomez and Short, who disclosed his affection for the acclaimed actress known for her roles in "Tár" and "The Lord of the Rings." Following that, Martin suggested the inclusion of Ryan Reynolds, to which he agreed that such an addition would be fantastic. With Reynolds currently enjoying the success of "Deadpool" and "Wolverine," his possible appearance seems highly likely. Additionally, this season will welcome back the legendary Meryl Streep, reprising her role as Loretta Durkin.

After her engaging debut in the last season, Loretta's move to Los Angeles for a career opportunity sets the stage for a long-distance relationship with Oliver, portrayed by Short. Their dynamic will continue to unfold as the story progresses. Short shared his admiration for Streep, stating that there is "no greater actor to work with."

He humorously noted her tendency to gossip on set yet affirmed that it never detracts from her exceptional performances. He explained that she can effortlessly transition from light-hearted chatter to heartfelt acting in mere moments. Martin echoed these sentiments, praising Streep's vibrant energy to the filming environment. He highlighted her ability to maintain joy while approaching her craft, which is a key aspect of her success. Fans can anticipate the premiere of season four on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in the UK starting August 27. For those on the lookout for new shows, an array of exciting series is also set to debut soon.
