Rise of the Ronin Sales are “Surpassing” the Nioh Series, Says Koei Tecmo

Following its recent release, "Rise of the Ronin," developed by Team Ninja, received a mix of mostly positive feedback. Despite receiving a mixed reception, Koei Tecmo announced in its recent financial summary for the fiscal year concluding in March 2024, that the latest game's sales have surpassed those of its Nioh series. The company shared its optimism about the game, anticipating it would contribute significantly to its growth strategy over the mid to long term although specific sales figures were not disclosed.

Comparatively, "Nioh" reached over a million sales globally within its first 17 days post-launch, and "Nioh 2" hit the same sales target about two months after its debut. Collectively, the Nioh series had reported shipment figures surpassing seven million units as of October 2022.

Originally debuting as PS4 exclusives, the Nioh games have now been outpaced by "Rise of the Ronin," which is exclusively available on the newer PS5 console. This platform not only supports enhanced gameplay features but also commands a higher retail price, potentially boosting the revenue metrics for Koei Tecmo. More detailed sales data on Rise of the Ronin are expected to be released in the upcoming months.
