Lost Records: Bloom and Rage Developer Discusses Dual Timelines, Camcorder Plays a Big Role

In a significant announcement by DON’T NOD, their upcoming narrative adventure game, Lost Records: Bloom and Rage, is slated for a late 2024 launch. The recently released trailer introduces players to Swann, a pivotal character, amidst the backdrop of the enigmatic Velvet Core. The game intricately weaves two distinct timelines, the summer of 1995 and the year 2022, during which the main characters, driven apart by mysterious circumstances, are drawn back together.

The creative minds at DON’T NOD Montreal, led by creative director Michel Koch, have innovated a gameplay feature where decisions made in one timeline influence outcomes in the other. This groundbreaking mechanism amplifies the narrative depth, allowing choices in the past to mold the future and vice versa, thus offering a refreshing evolution to the story-driven choice mechanics previously explored in titles like Life is Strange.

Adding a unique interactive element, Swann's camcorder serves as more than a thematic prop. It becomes an integral gameplay tool, enhancing character connection through storytelling and puzzle-solving elements that span across both timelines.

Set for release on platforms including Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, Lost Records: Bloom and Rage centers on the complex relationships of Swann, Nora, Kat, and Autumn. After a harrowing summer in 1995 filled with unresolved tensions and an ominous parting, the group has no choice but to confront their shared past when they unexpectedly reunite in 2022.

As the narrative unfolds, players will navigate through the layered past and present, forging paths that will either heal old wounds or deepen the scars left behind by time and secrecy.
