Idris Elba's "Hijack" Gears Up for Thrilling Season 2 with New Cast Additions

Season 2 of Apple TV Plus' thriller series, which boasts a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, has begun filming and welcomes new cast members.

Production has started on the second season of "Hijack," and to celebrate the cameras rolling, Apple TV Plus revealed three additional actors joining Idris Elba in this suspenseful series.

The current production ensemble features Toby Jones, recognized for his character in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Lisa Vicari of Dark fame, and Christiane Paul from the globally acclaimed FBI: International. The production is currently underway in the United Kingdom.

Idris Elba not only stars in but also serves as an executive producer, collaborating with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash from 60Forty Films, as well as George Kay and Jim Field Smith, who produce the series under Field Smith's own company, Idiotlamp Productions.

The first season, released in June 2023, followed Elba's character Sam, a business negotiator whose skills are tested when his seven-hour flight from Dubai to London is taken over. Sam attempts to de-escalate the crisis and return to his son and estranged wife, uncovering more about the criminals' personal motives and becoming entangled in a complex fight to save himself and everyone on board.

Created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, the show has been immensely popular among subscribers and currently holds an impressive 88% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It's no surprise that the streaming service is eager to explore this world further, even though season 1 ended on a conclusive note. It's rather unlikely Sam would find himself on another compromised airplane, so further details about the plot are being kept confidential for now. However, it's worth noting that new cast member Vicari is German, which might hint at the new setting.

You can stream 'Hijack' on Apple TV Plus.
