Google Introduces Incognito Mode Shortcut and Enhanced Features in Latest Search App Update

According to a report, Google is testing a new shortcut option for the Incognito mode on its search app, allowing users to quickly access the feature. This element was observed in a beta iteration of the Android Google application, in concert with an additional function that causes the labels on the lower banner to vanish. This development comes just a week after it was reported that the search engine may stop offering continuously scrolling search results on mobile and desktop platforms.

Android Authority identified a new shortcut that launches the Incognito tab on the Google app for Android, specifically on version 15.26.34.29.arm64. The newest trial edition can now be downloaded by testers subscribed to receive beta updates through Google Play's Developer Program.

Engaging with the search box reportedly brings up a new Chrome Incognito option above the keyboard. This may enable users to switch to Incognito Mode swiftly instead of the current solution — selecting the profile picture option in the top-right corner of the screen and then choosing the Incognito tab below the account.

The update also reportedly introduces an enhanced look for the Google app's home tab. Labels that previously appeared, such as Home, Search, and Saved, are now hidden, leaving only the icons visible and simplifying the interface.

While these options are reportedly available with the latest Google app beta update, Gadgets 360 staff could not access them, suggesting it is a server-side change.

The Google app is reportedly gaining support for Circle to Search – the visual lookup feature powered by artificial intelligence (AI). It was spotted in a beta version of the Google app and may let users scan any QR codes or barcodes visible on the screen,

According to the report, a chip showing the URL of the destination website may also be visible next to the code. This option is said to be accessible by pressing the Home button long and will likely roll out to users on the stable channel later.
